Cancelling, Pausing, and Refunds — Explained Plainly

Quick answer. Cancel any time from the dashboard — no retention call, no dark patterns. Monthly subscriptions end at the next billing date; annual subscriptions end immediately with a pro-rated refund minus any benefits-already-used value. Pause is a 1-3 month option for monthly subscribers with streak protection. 14-day full refund for first-time signups; longer tails for specific circumstances below.

Cancelling — the two-click path

Dashboard → Subscription → Cancel. No call, no email form, no retention step. You get a confirmation email and a summary of what ends when. If you cancel on monthly billing, your benefits continue until the next billing date and then end. If you cancel on annual billing, see refund policy below.

Pausing — monthly subscribers only

You can pause a monthly Prime subscription for 1, 2, or 3 months from the dashboard. During pause: no billing, no Prime benefits on transactions, no coin multiplier. Streak protection applies — a pause does not break your monthly streak.

Annual subscribers cannot pause (the yearly price already reflects a discount that assumes continuous use).

Refund policy — monthly

Monthly subscribers:

  • 14-day full refund for first-time signups if you have used fewer than 3 transactions across Gera products during the trial.
  • Prorated refund if billed but not used — e.g. billing day was yesterday and you have not used any Prime benefit, you can request a full refund within 7 days.
  • Service-outage refund if we fail an uptime SLA for a given month — published terms at the terms page.

Refund policy — annual

Annual subscribers:

  • Pro-rated refund on unused months, minus the value of benefits already used in excess of the monthly-equivalent.
  • Example: £99 annual, 3 months in, no heavy benefit use → refund ≈ (9/12 × £99) = £74.25.
  • Example: £99 annual, 3 months in, £60 of benefits used → refund = 9/12 × £99 − max(0, £60 − (3 × £9.99)) = £74.25 − £30.03 = £44.22.

Edge cases

Cancelling while travelling

Your subscription cancels normally. In-flight bookings made under Prime terms retain those terms even after cancellation — a GeraClinic follow-up booked yesterday does not lose its priority slot because you cancelled today.

Chargebacks

If you chargeback a Prime payment, the subscription is paused pending investigation. Please contact support first — it is almost always faster than a chargeback and usually results in a larger refund.

Bereavement

A bereaved subscriber’s estate can cancel with a death certificate and receive a full pro-rated refund plus any GeraCoins balance redeemed in cash. Send the request to support; no automated-flow friction on this path.

Student hardship

Students in genuine hardship can contact support for a tier downgrade or temporary pause beyond the standard 3-month limit. We handle these case by case, quietly, without demanding documentation.

What you keep after cancellation

  • Your GeraCoins balance. Redeem any time via any Gera product, Prime or not.
  • Your account history, preferences, and linked products.
  • Any annual discounts on products outside Prime that were booked while Prime-active, for the duration you originally booked.

What you lose after cancellation

  • Active Prime benefits on new transactions.
  • The earn-rate boost on GeraCoins.
  • The monthly-streak multiplier (resets on next resubscribe).

Restarting later

You can restart any time. The streak multiplier starts fresh. Your GeraCoins balance is unchanged. If a tier price has changed since you cancelled, the new price applies.
